Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah.t He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the LORD has helped us!” 1 Samuel 7:12
I just read this. Exactly one year ago, I preached a sermon from this very story, saying “We raise our Ebenezers so that we and the rest of the world might know and remember who He is.”
Coincidence? Maybe.
Is God trying to tell me something? Probably.
Maybe it’s time that I look back so I can see where I’m going. Maybe it’s time to retrace all the ways He has provided for me over the past year. Maybe it’s time I raise up another Ebenezer and shout to the world, “God has brought us this far. And He isn’t done yet!” Maybe it’s a reminder that it’s time to stop licking old wounds and move on to more complete healing that only He can give.
While I sort that out, I have a question for you. What is your Ebenezer? What is the moment that you can look at in your recent history and say “Yes! I’m absolutely certain God guided me through that chapter because it wouldn’t have been done without Him!”?
