Don’t believe everything you see in the movies

It’s been a while since I’ve watched any of the Moses-related movies, but the impression I remember having while watching them was that the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea immediately after the Passover. Like….that very same night.

Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe they don’t say that. But if they do, they’re wrong.

The account given in Numbers 33 makes it pretty clear that they were gone for several days before Pharaoh’s army had them pinned against the sea.

I know it’s no surprise, really. But just a good reminder that we can’t believe every interpretation of Scripture that’s portrayed in film, even if it’s done convincingly. Yes, I’m looking at you, The Da Vinci Code.
