Moving a Car in Park

Exodus 14:15 The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you keep calling out to me for help? Tell the Israelites to move forward.”

Sometimes, in order for God to help me, I have to get up and go. Keep moving forward, and God will reveal Himself. He’s actively writing His story in us, with us, and through us. Sometimes that means we have to sit down and shut up. Many times, however, it means we have to get up and go. It’s like the saying I heard some 5 years ago: “God can’t move a parked car.”

OK…technically, he can move a parked car. He can do whatever he wants. He is in the mountain moving business, after all. Maybe it should be “God won’t move a parked car.” But you get the point.

Sitting around and wallowing in our own self-pity or dwelling on the past, as the Israelites were doing here, isn’t going to get us anywhere. In fact, it could lead to destruction. Get up and go. Move on. Get out of Park – even if it’s just to Neutral – and start moving in the direction that God has mapped out (even if it doesn’t make any sense).
