One year ago, the leadership of Cowan Christian Church took a risk and invited this goofy guy to move his family up here from upper East Tennessee. One year ago today, that goofy guy began serving the congregation.
Looking back over the past year, I’ve seen God work in remarkable ways. And He has taught me more in this past year than I learned in three years in seminary. And I’m sure I’ve learned much more from them than they’ve learned from me.
Looking back over the past year, I see great times and some difficult times. Life transitions are like that. As a matter of fact, life in general is like that – isn’t it? Today, one year later, I still firmly believe that the best days at Cowan Christian Church are yet to come! And that’s saying quite a bit, since we have a history that goes back 115 years. But I’m confident that God has an amazing plan for our congregation in a community so small that it doesn’t even show up on epodunk.com.
But God doesn’t care about the size of our town. He wants a community of believers willing to follow Him and do whatever He asks us to do: to love Him, love each other, and love other people. Let’s keep doing that and sit back and watch God work. Because, like I said, the best days are yet to come…
